Southern Caribbean Cruise
November 1-8, 2014

On board the Celebrity Summit

On board the Celebrity Summit
Several guests in our group flew to San Juan a day prior to the cruise. The next day, all of us met onboard the Celebrity Summit. Our first day was at sea. Thus we had time to explore the ship and to participate in many of the onboard activities.

Our first port of call was Bridgetown, Barbados. Most of us joined a tour that was a drive through Barbados to explore the island's most notable attractions. At Orchid World, we meandered amongst beautiful outcroppings of coral, rock gardens, ponds, and exotic orchids. We continued the drive through the countryside and saw the historic St. Johns Parish Church, perched on a cliff overlooking St. John and the Atlantic Ocean. Afterwards, we visited the home of Sir Grantley Adams.

The Pitons, St. Lucia

The Pitons, St. Lucia

St. Lucia is a beautiful island and famous for The Pitons. We had a chance to discover the natural and historic landmarks of St. Lucia during our island tour that took us to the town of Soufriere. We drove through Castries, past Morne Fortune and Marigot Bay, to reach Soufriere. There we witnessed the incredible Pitons and ventured to the Sulfur Springs, the world's only "drive-in volcano." Then, we visited the Maranatha Garden or Prayer Park, adoring exotic flowers and colorful birds, before relaxing with a refreshing beverage.

Formal Night

Antigua offered stunning attractions and picturesque beaches. We took a scenic drive to Nelsons Dockyard where we enjoyed a fascinating walking tour of the Georgian British Naval Base. Then, we went to Shirley Heights to see the fantastic view from The Lookout. At the end of the tour we stopped at one of Antigua's pristine white sand beaches and had time to walk the beach, swim and relax.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten is a two-nation island that we visited during a guided bus tour. We discovered St. Maarten's beautiful countryside and historic landmarks. We passed the salt pond in the heart of Philipsburg and continued through Orleans for captivating views of Orient Beach and neighboring islands. We drove through the quaint fishing village of Grand Case to reach the French capital of Marigot. There we saw the historic monument that separates the French and Dutch sides of the island en route back to Philipsburg.

Always something to celebrate: a birthday, an anniversary, loyalty, ...

On the island of St. Thomas our tour took us on the picturesque Skyline Drive, viewing the magnificent Charlotte Amalie Harbor. Then we went to Beacon Point and enjoyed the stunning views of St. John and the British Virgin Islands. We continued to Mountain Top, the highest point on the island before finishing at St. Peter Great House and the Botanical Gardens - once the hideaway of the rich and famous.
