Deaf River Cruise in Germany March 27 - April 6, 2008
A river cruise is a very unique and enjoyable way to discover European countries. This time, we combined the
7-day river cruise in Germany on the Mosel, Rhine and Main with a 3-day pre-cruise land package in Paris. The French capital
is always worth a visit. Besides a city tour we enjoyed the free time for an extended walking tour through this amazing metropolis.
We started at a street market close to the Pantheon and enjoyed the colorful displays. Afterwards we visited the Pantheon. Among
those buried in its necropolis are Voltaire, Rousseau, Marat, Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, and Louis Braille.

|
After finishing our stay in Paris, we went by bus to Luxembourg the capital of the country Luxembourg. During a
city tour we learned a lot about its history and culture and its importance today within the European Community. Shortly after, we
crossed the boarder to Germany where our river cruise ship was waiting for us in Trier.
|
Along the Mosel river we stopped in picturesque places like Bernkastel, Cochem and Boppard. We enjoyed a guided
visit of the castle and the spectacular view of the river. Cochem has an idyllic setting amid vine-clad hills, overlooked by the
magical neo-Gothic castle.
|
At our stop in Mainz, our group opted for a tour to Heidelberg, Germany's oldest university town. We visited the
red-walled castle and took a walking tour of Old Heidelberg with its picturesque lanes and maze of roofs. Koblenz is situated at
the confluence of the Mosel and Rhine rivers. After a city walk we were heading for Cologne. Duesseldorf followed where we had
another guided tour. The city is known as "the world's longest bar" with more than 200 restaurants and bars. Our group was asked
by the hearing travel companions to provide a brief sign language class that turned into a very entertaining session for everyone.
|
Our river cruise ended in the beautiful city of Amsterdam. During a guided canal boat tour we admired the city's
17th-century homes, charming churches and 16th-century merchant houses.
